Fund Selection Policy
How we approach recommending mutual fund schemes - the process, not a promise of performance.

Our process
1. Understand your profile
We start with your goals, time horizon, income stability and risk tolerance - assessed through a structured risk-profiling conversation, not a generic questionnaire alone.
2. Shortlist by category, not by name
We map your goal to the right fund category first (equity, hybrid, debt, liquid) - the category and asset allocation matter more to your outcome than any single scheme choice.
3. Evaluate scheme fundamentals
Within a category, we consider the fund's mandate, portfolio quality, expense ratio, fund manager tenure and consistency of process - not short-term rank-chasing based on trailing returns alone.
4. Exclude, don't chase, on commission
Trail commission rates are broadly similar across schemes within a category (see our Commission Disclosure page) - commission is not a factor in which scheme we shortlist.
5. Review periodically
Recommendations are reviewed against your goals and the scheme's continued suitability, not switched routinely - unnecessary churn is a practice we explicitly avoid.
6. The decision is yours
We present suitable options and explain their risks (including the SEBI Riskometer). The final investment decision always rests with you.
Suitability matrix
| Risk Profile | Suitable Categories | Generally Avoid | Horizon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Conservative | Liquid, Overnight, Short Duration Debt, Conservative Hybrid | Small Cap, Sector / Thematic Funds | < 3 years |
| Moderate | Balanced Hybrid, Large Cap, Multi Cap, Index Funds | Small Cap, High Credit Risk Debt | 3 - 7 years |
| Aggressive | Flexi Cap, Mid Cap, Small Cap, ELSS, Thematic Funds | Pure Debt for long-term growth goals | > 7 years |
Indicative mapping only - every recommendation also considers your specific goals, liquidity needs and existing portfolio.
Conflict of interest declaration
Mehul Balubhai Patel declares that all fund recommendations are based solely on the investor's risk profile and financial goals. Commission rates paid by AMCs do not influence our recommendations. We have no proprietary or preferential relationship with any AMC.
Unsuitability declaration process
If you choose to invest in a scheme outside your assessed risk profile:
- We inform you in writing that the scheme does not match your risk profile.
- You sign an Unsuitability Declaration acknowledging this.
- The transaction is processed only after the signed declaration is received.
This policy describes our process, not a guarantee of any outcome. Past performance of any scheme is not indicative of future returns, and no fund selection process can eliminate market risk. Mutual Fund investments are subject to market risks, read all scheme related documents carefully.
