How NAV is calculated and published

NAV = (market value of the scheme's investments + other assets - liabilities and expenses) ÷ number of units outstanding.

NAVs are calculated for every business day and published on the AMC's website and on AMFI's website, so investors can track their investments daily.

Cut-off times

  • Most schemes - applications and funds received before 3:00 pm get the same day's NAV
  • Liquid and overnight schemes - cut-off of 1:30 pm, with the previous day's NAV applicable when funds are received before the cut-off
  • Requests after the cut-off get the next business day's NAV

Common misconception

A scheme with a lower NAV is not 'cheaper' and a high NAV is not 'expensive'. What matters is how the value of the portfolio moves in percentage terms, not the absolute NAV.
