How a top-up works
When you register a SIP, you can opt for a top-up: for example, increase the instalment by ₹500 or by 10% every year. The AMC applies the higher amount automatically from the chosen interval, subject to any maximum (cap) amount you set.
This lets your investments keep pace with salary increments and inflation without registering a new SIP every year.
Things to check
- Your bank mandate limit must be high enough to cover the stepped-up amount
- Top-up frequency, minimum top-up amount and cap options vary by AMC
- You can also make an ad-hoc additional purchase in the same folio at any time
Frequently asked questions
- Can I add a top-up to an existing SIP?
- Some AMCs allow it; others require a fresh SIP registration with the top-up option. We help you with the form.
- Is a top-up the same as an additional purchase?
- No. A top-up permanently raises future SIP instalments; an additional purchase is a one-time investment.
