What these timelines mean for you
The timelines below are the outer limits set by regulation; many AMCs complete transactions faster. 'Working day' / 'business day' excludes weekends and market holidays. If an AMC delays redemption or IDCW payments beyond the prescribed time, it is required to pay interest for the delay.
| Transaction | Timeline (as per SEBI / AMFI norms) |
|---|---|
| Purchase - NAV applicability | Same-day NAV if application and funds are received before 3:00 pm (1:30 pm for liquid & overnight schemes); otherwise next business day |
| Redemption - NAV applicability | Same-day NAV if received before the 3:00 pm cut-off; otherwise next business day |
| Redemption proceeds to your bank | Within 3 working days of the redemption request (longer for specified scheme categories notified by AMFI) |
| IDCW (dividend) payout | Within 7 working days of the record date |
| NFO unit allotment | Within 5 working days of the NFO closing |
| Transaction confirmation (SMS / email) | Within 5 business days of the transaction |
| Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) | Monthly, for months with a transaction; otherwise half-yearly |
| SIP / STP / SWP registration | As per the AMC's notice period; a fresh bank mandate can take a few weeks to register |
| Switch | Treated as a redemption from one scheme and a purchase in another - cut-offs apply to both legs |
Timelines are summarised from SEBI and AMFI norms as of October 2026 and may change. The scheme's SID / SAI states the service standards that apply to it.
