Bill Discounting

Short-term opportunities backed by business invoices

Businesses that sell on credit often wait weeks or months to be paid. Bill (invoice) discounting lets them receive cash today by selling or assigning that invoice at a discount. An investor who funds the invoice earns the difference between the discounted amount paid and the invoice value collected on the due date. Deals are usually arranged through specialised platforms, and the outcome depends entirely on the paying company settling the invoice on time.

Before you invest, understand

This is a credit exposure to a business, not a deposit or a mutual fund.

  • Short, fixed tenures - usually 30 to 120 days
  • Return depends on timely payment by the invoiced company
  • Not regulated by SEBI or AMFI; no deposit insurance

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about bill discounting. Still have a question? We're happy to help.

Is bill discounting a mutual fund?

No. It is a direct credit exposure to a business invoice, arranged through a third-party platform. It is not a mutual fund, not a bank deposit and not regulated by SEBI or AMFI.

What are the main risks?

The invoiced company may pay late or not at all, the platform's structure and recovery process may be tested in a default, and money cannot usually be withdrawn before the due date. You can lose part or all of your capital.

Are returns guaranteed?

No. The stated return is what you receive only if the invoice is paid in full and on time.

How much should I put in?

Only surplus money that you can lock in for the deal tenure and can afford to have delayed. Spreading across several invoices reduces concentration on any one company.

What is your role?

We act only as a distributor / referral partner and explain the product and its risks. The platform and the underlying company are responsible for the deal and its repayment.
