Vehicle Insurance

Stay covered on every road

Under the Motor Vehicles Act, every vehicle on Indian roads must have at least third-party insurance. A comprehensive policy also protects your own vehicle against accidents, theft, fire and natural calamities. Choosing the right Insured Declared Value (IDV), add-ons and No Claim Bonus protection makes a real difference at claim time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about vehicle insurance. Still have a question? We're happy to help.

Is vehicle insurance mandatory?

Yes. Third-party insurance is compulsory for every vehicle driven on public roads in India. Comprehensive cover is optional but recommended.

What is IDV?

Insured Declared Value is the maximum amount the insurer pays if your vehicle is stolen or totally damaged. It's roughly the current market value of the vehicle.

What is a No Claim Bonus?

A discount on your own-damage premium for each claim-free year, which can build up over several years. It belongs to you and can be transferred to a new vehicle.

What happens if my policy lapses?

Driving without valid insurance is an offence. A lapsed comprehensive policy may also require a vehicle inspection and you could lose your NCB, so renew on time.

Which add-ons are worth it?

Zero depreciation is popular for newer vehicles, and roadside assistance and engine protection can be useful depending on your usage and location.
